I Never Went To The Nick Or CN Hotels, But I Feel Like I Just Did

This post would not be possible without the videos made by Defunctland and Schafrillas productions on YouTube, please support their work and watch their videos on this subject. I may have never set foot into either of these establishments, but thanks to two videos on YouTube, I can at least know what it was like. I love Defunctland, learning about history of attractions, rides, and even T.V in a documentary style format. My personal faveorite video being on the Disney Channel theme song, which had me on the edge of my seat until the video concluded. Schaffrillas Prodcutions which usually follows the host talking about many topics from either ranking movies, or reviewing a topic in detail. Both of these channels now have something in common, a video about hotels that no longer exist, based on T.V channels I grew up with.  Defunctland's, as just stated, being presented as a documentary filled with facts and sources about the Nickoldiean hotel and resort which existed in Florida...

Never Give Up Hope (Wacko's Wish)

Sometimes a song from your childhood just pops in your head for whatever reason, reminding you of when you used to listen to it and sing along. Sometimes we are reminded of them by circumstance; in the case of this song, it is the latter. The cold weather that has been hitting most of the U.S including my neck of the woods, reminded me of a cartoon special that I loved growing up, that would air around the holidays but felt more like a representation of the Winter season as a whole, especially January. Animaniacs Wacko's Wish was a made-for-TV movie, setting all the characters we loved in a fairy tale, where money was short, the world was cold, gray and full of snow, yet the comedy and wit of the series was still there.  This was the show's take on musicals, and I wanted to talk about my favorite song, which I still enjoy listening to today.  The song is a group number, every character talking about the miserable conditions in which everyone, aside from the villains, liv...

No Place Like Home, Especially When A Cat Is Trapped In The Piano (Harper's Locket, The Goes Wrong Show)

No animals were harmed during the making of this episode; instead, a stuffy was used, but my sides were hurting from how much I laughed.  I have mentioned a time or two how much I love "The Goes Wrong Show", a BBC comedy show about a drama society putting on a different play every week, and what can go wrong, will. Whether it be something happening from the outside world, forgotten lines, slapstick, or errors in the set, and so much more. I love this show. I wanted to highlight a specific episode, "Harper's Locket", so the actors are prepared, the stage is set, and let's dive in.  Before I begin, I highly recommend watching this episode. At the time of this post, it is free on multiple platforms. I would say this is best viewed by older audiences for a moment or two. This episode is a period drama with romance, secrets, a horse, and a cat, which ends up inside a piano. This episode has entered my top three. When I rewatch it or show it to friends, I grow to...

After These Messages : The Sometimes Charming Yet Unavoidable World Of Commercials

We have seen them, whether we want to or not. Reminding us of a place to eat out, somewhere to shop, or an individual product to purchase. Showing us accolades of a movie that is currently only available on the big screen, or even an app to install. Advertisements are inevitable, and they can be seen on the TV at a restaurant, a billboard as you navigate your day, and of course, between shows, streams, and videos. Yet there are some commercials that I enjoy watching, get a laugh from, or even have nostalgia for. Now I am only going to be focusing on commercials, not bumpers made for the channel or block of television in question, because those deserve their own post, so let's put the story on pause for a moment and dive into what makes commercials sometimes so special, for better and for worse.  Commercials have been with me since I was a child, in between the cartoons I was watching, I was reminded of what movies were in the theaters or that had just come to DVD, what video ...

As You Wish : The Perfection Of The Princess Bride

With the unfortunate passing of Rob Reiner, I wanted to explore some of his filmography, and I wanted to start with my personal favorites of his movies. The Princess Bride isn't just my personal favorite from his catalogue; it is either my favorite or second-favorite film of all time. We all know the characters, stories, and especially the lines from this movie, iconic lines that have spanned decades, from " Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya.. You killed my father, prepare to die" and "Inconceivable!", so I just wanted to revisit why this movie is so special to me and to so many others.  I rewatched this movie with a friend recently, and even though I have watched this movie many times over, I found myself quoting some of the lines, laughing at the jokes, and smiling ear to ear. This movie, taking place within a story being read to a sick child by his grandfather, has action, comedy, romance, and so much more, all within a fairy tale-like setting. The world this ...

A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong : A Comedic Christmas So Wrong That Its Right

I am sure that I will talk more about "The Goes Wrong Show" in the future, both the show itself and the hour-long specials made. It has become one of my favorite shows of all time, bringing me constant laughter no matter how many times I rewatch an episode, and I know the jokes that are coming. For those who do not know, this show follows The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, as they put on countless plays that, as the title indicates, go wrong in ways beyond the audience's imaginations. Tons of jokes, great physical comedy, and even some heart, I wanted to end my holiday posts for this year, talking about what I have only recently seen and already love: A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong. Following their last hour-long special, Peter Pan Goes Wrong, the team is now taking on the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, which I will say to understand some of the jokes, the Peter Pan special must be viewed, as this is very much a sequel. Hijinks ensue in all shapes and sizes, such as...

Christmas Who? SpongeBob's First Holiday

This episode has become a yule tide staple for me to the point where I watch this once or twice every time the Christmas season rolls around. SpongeBob SquarePants has had many Christmas episodes over the years, but the one I wanted to talk about today was the very first, the episode titled "Christmas Who?". I remember watching this when it first aired, as it told the yuletide tale of the time Christmas came to Bikini Bottom for the first time.  This episode was the introduction of beloved character and long-time SpongeBob fan Patchy the Pirate as he recounts the story in some very funny live-action segments. The episode is full-length, which at the time was not a normal occurrence for our nautical hero, most episodes having two episode segments in them, thus already making this Christmas tale special. SpongeBob learns about Christmas for the first time and tries to bring it to the people of his undersea town. Trying to bring cheer to everyone and anyone as he waits for the ...
