I Never Went To The Nick Or CN Hotels, But I Feel Like I Just Did

This post would not be possible without the videos made by Defunctland and Schafrillas productions on YouTube, please support their work and watch their videos on this subject.

I may have never set foot into either of these establishments, but thanks to two videos on YouTube, I can at least know what it was like. I love Defunctland, learning about history of attractions, rides, and even T.V in a documentary style format. My personal faveorite video being on the Disney Channel theme song, which had me on the edge of my seat until the video concluded. Schaffrillas Prodcutions which usually follows the host talking about many topics from either ranking movies, or reviewing a topic in detail. Both of these channels now have something in common, a video about hotels that no longer exist, based on T.V channels I grew up with.

Defunctland's, as just stated, being presented as a documentary filled with facts and sources about the Nickoldiean hotel and resort which existed in Florida, Schaffrillas on other hand is an in person documentation of the Cartoon Network hotel in PA, using jokes and showcasing the hotel with a personal touche? even referencing and citing Defunctland's video as a source.I have watched both videos back to back, multiple times as not only are they both well made videos and different in their presentation, making for a fun double feature, but I love the concept and want to see more videos about it. The two channels I spent the time watching the most tried making resorts and neither have lasted long enough to be somewhere I can still go to, making them each a piece of history. Both hotels having some ideas in common yet some stark differences, such as both using mascots but the Cartoon Network hotel only having four special rooms compared to Nickoldiean's hundreds. The Nickoldiean resort having multiple pools, a laser maze, buffets and live game shows for guests to partake in, some of those elements still being there to this day.

What both had in common was the astromincal pricing and how both were rebranded into other types of resorts, which are now way more affordable.

Both of them fascinated me, and piqued my curiosity, I even remember trying to win sweepstakes that would get me a free trip to said Nickoldiean hotel. Both of them being interesting ideas but falling short in separate ways. Both videos unlike the hotels are excellent in their own ways, having watched the videos on my own and with friends even sparked some fun discussions. The presentation of both videos gave me some laughs, and each act as great time capsules for these two establishments. Schaffrillas's video having some great jokes in it and both bringing attention to me that Cartoon Network hotel even existed, which I had no idea until the video aired.

Aside from one moment from the Nickoldiean video that I skip, which features a warning to show how poorly the condition of the hotel aged over time and led to some very gross incidents as well as making me sad as the hotel was not given proper care. Seeing both hotels as they were sunsetting towards the end of their runs was sad, as if seeing a light of a fun idea, that was slowly flickering until it faded away. That being said both of the moments of their closings weren't baffling, they made sense.

I love watching videos on nostolgic resorts, or even the rides as mentioned, seeing something I never experienced and sometimes even making me wish I had experienced them. Other times making me glad that I am only looking at them from the outside, chuckling at the idea and wondering how it came to fruition to begin with. It can lead to fun facts to talk about with friends, or even show and share with them during a hangout. Videos on these attractions always lead to fun facts, and are just fun to learn about.

I defintily recommend both of these videos, and you may enjoy their other videos as well, but this made for an unexpected yet very enjoyable double feature. These places may not be what they once were, but thanks to these videos we can catch a glimpse, on the times that T.V studios tried to be Disney, and for all we know, may never try to do again. At least I got some entertaining and informative videos on the subjects and on plenty of other topics as well.
