The Crazy Catchy Awesomeness Of The Disney Afternoon Theme Song

Sometimes for a touch of nostalgia, I will listen to television theme songs, especially if there is an extended version. I love anime openings as well, both the made for TV versions and the full songs. Today I wanted to talk about a theme song for a block of television as well as a couple songs from that block, the Disney Afternoon. The classic block housing Ducktales, Chip And Dale Recuse Rangers, Darkwing Duck and so many more. I will not be going down every theme song (today at least), but I will cover the main theme and why it is  so amazing. I surely will return to this topic to talk about some of the songs for the shows because they are certified classics, there is a reason why the reboot of Ducktales used the same theme song, I'm just saying. So get your headphones ready, and get going because there's so much to do, when it comes to the Disney Afternoon.

When it comes to this song I am talking about just the song itself, not the visuals. I have seen the visuals that accompany this song but I usually just find myself listening to the theme and not watching the actual introduction to the animation block.

Most of the songs from this block are high energy, fast paced, and have catchy lyrics. Making the show itself recognizable before the episode even starts, or even from just being heard. This song is no different and always puts a smile on my face when it pops into my head, which usually leads to me listening to it. This song was meant to get you ready to watch those shows, it was a theme song before you heard more theme songs. There is the main theme and the reprise which is purely instrumental until the last ten seconds.

When I first heard this song I was well into adult hood as I was too young for the Disney Afternoon but the song was just so much fun. I also especially appreciate the chiptune remix of this song used for the Disney Afternoon Collection game, which is an amazing collection. The song is just so peppy and upbeat, it gets me excited every time I listen to. The lyrics are catchy and memorable that I want to sing along and sometimes I do, the song is just plain fun. If i were to describe it in one word I would say, fun is that word.

The lyrics and instrumentation work together to keep the energy going, and to me I am just can not help but smile when listening to this song. This is a song meant for a block of television, there is no story, no plot, this is purely meant to just get you ready to watch a ton of shows. You go from this song to other theme songs, and to full shows. This song goes way harder then it needed to, and that is why it is amazing. Just from listening to the song I can tell that fun is in store and with tons of adventures right around the bend.

The lyrics all talking about getting the animation ready and a set as if it were a production. The song gives these shows the weight of being a production that should be paid attention too. The reprise is a great use of instrumentals and is just as fun without lyrics as it is with. The reprise and version of this theme for The Disney Afternoon Collection video game make me want to rock out just as much. There is no weak version of this song, each one sounding just as good as the other.

This song does not overstay it's welcome and just is a upbeat, welcoming introduction. I love this song because I just find it fun, as I mentioned earlier plain and simple. The song is a fun, and invokes the joy of sitting down with great cartoons. Many of the shows from this block are still talked about, some even rebooted, and this song deserves to be in the conversation as those shows. A fun song that welcomes you into an unforgettable afternoon, a Disney Afternoon even.
