The Double Decker Taco And Limited Time Menu Items

Recently, I talked about food items from special menus, specifically based on movies and TV shows, but fast food menus don't always have to have a movie tie-in to run an item for a limited time. When I saw the recently released Y2K menu at Taco Bell, I decided to give one of the items from it a try, but I also wanted to discuss the food items that are not always available for purchase.

I have participated in some of these limited-time menu items or meals, such as the Happy Meal marketed towards adults that has come back a couple of times at McDonald's, and every time nacho fries return to the menu, I try to get them a couple of times before they are gone at Taco Bell. Whether it is using a different type of meat, or a different side and or drink, I do engage with limited-time menu items from time to time. McDonald's has some that are yearly occurrences, such as the McRib or the Shamrock Shake, neither I have consumed before, but maybe someday.

When it comes to Taco Bell, I enjoy going there from time to time; it is one of the fast food establishments I do enjoy when I am in the mood for fast food to begin with. The Double Decker Taco was enough to warrant a visit in my eyes, as it is an item that many people have nostalgia for, but I myself do not. Sometimes these limited menus are tied to nostalgia and the year/decade they came from, this being an example, so I decided to give it a try.

The Double Decker Taco is a soft-shell taco with some refried beans, then wrapped around a hard-shell taco that has cheese, meat, and lettuce. This used to be a mainstay menu item at Taco Bell, but I never had it before now; I had only heard about it. When I saw Taco Bell bringing this item back as part of the Y2K menu, I wanted to try it, and so I got a couple and did just that.

I really enjoyed it. I usually only get hard-shell tacos, but this item really works. It really is the best of both worlds, and it tastes really good. I want to get some more of them before they are gone. I am hoping that they get added to the menu, much like nacho fries, and come back a couple of times a year. Even better if the two came back at the same time.

I am glad I tried this item, and want to try it again. I hope it either rejoins the menu permanently or can be a seasonal item. When it comes to limited-time menu items, they can be fun to engage in and try, and I may have to even try some other limited-time meals or menu items from other establishments, and if I do, I might just have to share my thoughts.
